GENERALITIES

Zacatecas ranks eighth nationally in terms of land area 75.5oo km2 (seventy-five thousand five hundred  km square) to understand. Located in north-central Mexico, bordered to the north by Coahuila, to the south by Aguascalientes

RELIEF
Nestled in the central plateau is crossed to the north by the Sierra Madre Oriental and south by the Sierra Madre Occidental






HYDROGRAPHY
The entity has no major rivers, which are, for the most part are temporary and are formed to drain the water from the mountains in the rainy season. The drainage system consists of two basins: the Pacific basin and the rivers of the interior basin with no outlet to the sea.

WEATHER
The northern area is characterized by dry desert climate, the soil is hard and salty, hampers agriculture occur only corn and beans.
The downtown area is semiarid and temperate climates, some parts of the region have the potential for agriculture.
The southern region is the largest in the state and has semi-desert climates such as dry, temperate semidesert and semi humid temperate

NAME´S ORIGYN

Reportedly, in what is now the state of Zacatecas four tribes inhabiting primary: caxcanes, guachichiles, Tepehuanes and zacatecos. It zacatecos of the state receives its modern name. Zacatecas was the name that the Aztecs gave the inhabitants of the region of Cerro de La Bufa. It is a Nahuatl word meaning "people of the land where grass abounds" and comes from the word zacatl, meaning reed, grass or grass, and the locative co.

TOURISM
Underground Adventures in Zacatecas
The train that part of the historic center of Zacatecas will take you to the Eden mine, located 340 m underground, is a place full of history by the mining of this state, of this mine, which opened in 1586, were extracted tons silver but closed in 1964.
